Petaling Jaya, April 5 – Two young students from Beaconhouse Sri Inai International School, Petaling Jaya have out-drawn and out-imagined the competition, bagging first and second place in a nationwide Geronimo Stilton poster design contest.
Ryan Ezra Faisal, age 12, clinched the grand prize by colourfully depicting the wondrous world of Geronimo Stilton complete with bright purple dragon, pink clouds and candy hills. Shannon Moon Li Ying, age 13, picked up the runner-up spot with her fantastical drawing of Geronimo’s thrilling adventures in the Kingdom of Fantasy.
“Geronimo Stilton, is one of my very favourite book series! The adventures that Geronimo, Thea, Trap and Ben go on are always so exciting,” said Ryan. “I’m thrilled to have my drawing selected as the winner. It was a blast reading the book and even more fun to bring the adventure to life through my drawing.”
Geronimo Stilton is beloved by children around the world with over 140 million copies of the book series having been sold. It has captured the imaginations and hearts of children across the globe with 249 different adventures featuring the anthropomorphic mouse that is a journalist and editor.
“Once I started reading the Geronimo Stilton books, I was instantly hooked! I love the adventure and always look forward to the next book. I was beyond excited when I heard about the contest to create our very own cover for the book. Now I am really over the moon learning that my drawing was selected as one of the top,” said Shannon.
With this win, the children and their classmates will be treated to a performance of Geronimo Stilton Live on Stage at a later date. They will also receive 30 copies of Geronimo Stilton books each, to share will all their classmates.
Commenting on the exciting news, Nicki Coombs, Executive Principal at Beaconhouse Sri Inai said, “This was a fun exercise for the children and a pleasant surprise to have one of our beloved students bag the top prize. At Beaconhouse, we are deeply invested in supporting all of our children’s passions. We believe in holistic and life-long learning. Skills can be nurtured both in and outside of the classroom and these skills aren’t restricted to your conventional academic skills either.”
